EUGENE, Ore. - John Ogden watched from his bed as an oak tree pummeled by snow and ice toppled Saturday, crashing down on top of him through the roof of his home.

"The ceiling separated from that one wall," Ogden recalled. "Then all hell broke loose."

Ogden, who is quadriplegic, was trapped in his bed as the tree came down.

He remembers thinking, "When will this stop?"

"I was just bracing myself for the next moment," he said Tuesday. "I didn't know if that would be up or down."

Rescuers freed him from the debris. Ogden escaped the ordeal without a scratch.

His caregiver, Laura Drake, was also in the home at the time. She also escaped injury.
came out without a scratch.

"We had angels looking out for us," Drake said.

The home is uninhabitable, leaving Ogden and his wife, Oly, and Drake looking for a new place to live.

"My main concern is finding a home," Oly Ogden said.
