Treasure hunt sale benefits kids in Springfield schools

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Sombreros, home décor, lamps, fans, bedding - you name it, a University of Oregon student probably left it.

And now it's all being sold for a good cause.

The Brattain House "treasure hunt" sale kicked off early Friday.

It didn't take long for folks to show up and do some summer shopping.

Last year, the sale happened inside the gym over at Two Rivers Elementary..

This year for the first time, the hunt took place at the Booth Kelly Warehouse.

All items up for grabs are things UO students left behind in their dorms after the school year. The items are collected and sold for a good cause.

"It's students making the donations, and then all of the proceeds goes back into student support fund to support students in springfield schools," said Janet Beckman with Springfield Public Schools.

The sale continues at 303 5th Street in Springfield until Saturday at 4 p.m.
