VIDA, Ore. - A tree fell across Highway 126, blocking the highway early Wednesday morning 11 miles east of Vida.
Traffic got around the tree with the help of a flagger until all lanes of the highway were reopened shortly before 1 p.m., about 8 hours after the tree fell.
The McKenzie School District opened schools on a 2-hour delay due to the highway closure. Kindergarten was canceled.
The tree, which appeared to be at least 5 feet in diameter and at least 75 feet tall, also damaged some phone lines.
