Tree falls, cuts power to north Eugene neighborhood
EUGENE, Ore. -- A fallen tree knocked over a power line Tuesday afternoon cutting power to over 180 customers, the Eugene Water and Electric Board said.
The tree knocked the power line down near the intersection of River Road and River Loop 1 in north Eugene at around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday. The outage is reportedly affecting an estimated 185 customers in the area.
Crews on-scene are assessing damage and starting repairs. EWEB said they are unsure of how long repairs will take and do not know when service will be restored to the area.
The customers without service are primarily homes located on the following streets: Cindy, Dahlia, Lantana, Ferndale, Oak Leaf and Fox Glove, as well as customers on River Loop 1 and River Road.
Put the power lines underground and these types of outages will go away.
incense cedar trees have there place.  Residential areas may not be good.. Plant a Western Red Cedar or Giant  Sequoia or one of the many smaller under powerline trees.  Little Leaf Linden's are great pollinator/honey bee tree.  Incense Cedars make good  siding and create much biomass with all its needle drop and cones.  If one does there own tree work go ahead and plant one.
