EUGENE, Ore. - On any given night, you can find the Bier Stein packed wall to wall.
"We are just at capacity almost every night," said co-owner Kristina Measells. "We just need a bigger place so we can serve more people."
Soon Eugene beer lovers will have a little bit more room to enjoy their favorite lager.
"We'll have, first of all, a larger cooler so there will be even more beer options, everything will be kept cold," she said.
Measells and her husband bought the Midtown Marketplace property on Willamette Street, and plan on moving in by next February.
That means 12,000 square feet of space, a full kitchen and 31 beers on tap compared to just 12 now.
"We're not going to be changing anything too much," she said. "We're not going to be fancier, we're gonna just try and keep it the same. We'll just have more space."
Another local business that seems to be thriving in this economy is pizza.
"The opportunity presented itself and we thought, why not? We've done it once before, we can do it again," said Pegasus Pizza co-owner Lori Reader.
Pegasus opened it's third location in South Eugene at Woodfield Station Thursday, following in the footsteps of its Campus and Oakway Center locations.
"We've introduced table service at night with this location, but it's the same menu. We have a full bar here so cocktails can be served with your meal," she said.
Reader and her daughter Tara said they've used local contractors and artists to design the space, which sits near Market of Choice.
"Each location takes on the identity of the neighborhood that it's in," said Reader.
She and her husband have owned Pegasus for over 13 years. And even through a recession, she said it's been a learning process, but success is all about perseverance and running a cost effective business.
"We've always felt like we're locals, we hire locals, we've really done our part for the community," she said. "It feels good."
