SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Police charged two men and a 17-year-old with assault early Saturday morning after finding a 23-year-old man with gunshot and stab wounds near downtown Springfield.
The 23-year-old, whose name is being withheld at this time, is in serious but stable condition, police officials said.
At around 1:15 a.m. Saturday Springfield Police responded to a fight possibly involving a gun near the intersection of 15th and Main.
They arrived to find a man with multiple wounds. Witnesses reported he had been shot.
Emergency crews took the man to Sacred Heart at Riverbend where he was treated for both stab and gunshot wounds, officials said.
After a brief investigation officers found Craig Ellis, 23; Tyler Tholl, 24, and a 17-year-old at a nearby apartment complex, all believed to be involved in the assault.
Springfield Police Sergeant David Lewis said officers also found weapons inside the apartment.
Police charged all three with first-degree assault, while Ellis received an "unlawful use of a weapon" charge. The men were booked at the Lane County jail while the teenager was taken to the Serbu Juvenile Detention Facility.
Sergeant Lewis said they are still looking into the assault.
