Man arrested in stabbing at Four Corners
EUGENE, Ore. - Three people were stabbed during a robbery in northwest Eugene on Friday afternoon, Eugene Police said.
The incident started with a 911 call reporting a fight between 6 to 8 people at the Four Corners area where Highway 99 and Roosevelt Boulevard meet.
Further police investigation revealed that a 23-year-old Eugene man, later identified as Justin James Peterson, robbed Michael Claughton, 64, at knife-point. Claughton was injured during the robbery and sustained a minor injury, police said.
Two other men at the scene, David Burdick, 36, and his brother, Douglas Burdick, 39, stepped into the situation and told Peterson to leave. Peterson then stabbed David Burdick, who was sent to a local hospital with serious injuries. Douglas Burdick was also injured with a minor knife wound.
Police took Peterson into custody a block from the scene after a foot pursuit. He was charged with second degree assault, first degree robbery as well as an outstanding warrant arrest.
Kudos to the Burdick brothers for stepping in and trying to do the right thing. I hope everyone is okay and had a speedy recovery.
