Victim escapes camp trailer fire in Junction City
JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - One person escaped a fire that destroyed a camper trailer Wednesday morning.
Fire crews responded to 28295 Meadowview Rd. at 7 a.m. and found the trailer in flames on the back of the property.
The fire had consumed the 20-foot RV and started to spread into nearby vegetation, said Chris Heppel, division chief with Lane Fire Authority.
The fire was confined to a 500 by 500 foot area but could have been worse, the fire chief told KVAL News.
Nearby vegetation might have caught fire and spread the flames had the fire taken place in the afternoon instead of the early morning.
Heppel urged residents to clear a 30-foot buffer around homes to provide defensible space.
