Warm socks and hats from Santa: 'Being here really helps out a lot'

EUGENE, Ore. -- Santa and his helpers paid a visit to the First Place Family Center on Monday, spreading holiday cheer and handing out warm clothes.

Volunteers helped distribute hundreds of socks and hats to families involved with the non-profit. Employees of Guarantee Chevrolet donated clothing to the cause to help fend off the cold during the upcoming chilly winter months.

Angela Bartow said she was overwhelmed by the community's support and generosity.

”We've just been down on our luck... so being here really helps out a lot," Bartow said.

This year First Place Family Center received more than 900 pairs of socks, along with toiletries, laundry supplies, and other staples.
