Wildfire jumps Oregon highway, burning out of control

BASQUE STATION, Ore. - A wildfire jumped Highway 95 in southeast Oregon, forcing transportation officials to take measures causing extended traffic delays.

The Longdraw fire burning out of control along Hwy 95 about 30 miles north of the Nevada state line has caused the highway to close at times.

The lightning-caused fire has burned over 45 square miles of brush and grass in Southeastern Oregon.

The Oregon Department of Transportation is guiding traffic through the area with a pilot car.

Delays up to 2 hours are possible.

The fire started about 6 miles west of Basque Station, a transportation maintenance station between Burns Junction, Ore., and McDermitt, Nev.
