Man escapes burning home
EUGENE, Ore. - A house fire sent a man to the hospital and put up a plume of smoke over northwest Eugene on Friday afternoon.
A witness at the scene told KVAL News an ambulance took a man from the scene.
Firefighters said the man suffered smoke inhalation but that he escaped as the fire spread through the home.
Flames gutted one-story home at the corner of Cedar Brook Drive and Barger Road.
The home is the only residence on a large patch of undeveloped land next to a subdivision.
This is a developing story. Watch KVAL News and KVAL.com for updates
Brings to mind my Christmas tree that is drying out in this dry winter air. Needles full of dry sap oil. They can go up like roman candles so easily from the heat of the lights/the heater/woodstove etc. I will spend this Sunday taking it down BEFORE my drunken New Year's Eve celebration with guests by the fireplace. Fears before Cheers folks! And, 2 lemon-lime alka-seltzer wafers capped off in my chilled quart of lemon-lime gatorade for a pleasant morning after. Â
