'It's not uncommon to have warming fires started by the homeless'
EUGENE, Ore. -- Crews doused a tool shed fire early Friday morning that officials said could have been started by someone trying to keep warm.
Fire officials got word of the fire at near 2nd and Chambers St. in Eugene around 4 a.m. Friday.
Battalion Chief Don Vaught said that it looked like someone was inside the building when the fire started and they could have been using the space to keep warm.
“It appears the door was open in the shed and it's not uncommon to have warming fires started by the homeless,” said Vaught.
Officials said that they are still determining what caused the fire.
The fire department said that this fire doesn't appear to be related to another fire in a nearby apartment complex about a half hour later.
It should not be common to throw these bums out of town...Oh yea, we live in Eugene..Right to burn!
Yeah what's the matter with these guys trying to keep warm. The nerve of them huh? Did you better people (you know you people who think you are better than the homeless) know you can be ticketed for sleeping in your car or camper on public land to the tune of $275.00 for the first offense and $500.00 for a second. Plus they can confiscate your camper or car at the second offense! What kind of people would create and or enforce a law like that? I'll tell you who, The Mayor, the City Counsel, and the Eugene Police Department, etc.... This city doesn't give two Sh*** about the homeless, because they are arrogant, uncaring, and immoral people!
@Postone There is no town more pro homeless than this hole, errr Eugene.
