Teen collapses after 4-day Xbox marathon

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A four-day Xbox gaming marathon apparently was too much for one 15-year-old Ohio boy.
WCMH-TV reports that the Columbus teen collapsed and was hospitalized Tuesday after becoming severely dehydrated. His mother says he emerged from his bedroom during the four days only to pick up snacks or take a quick shower.
The boy was so engrossed in playing Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox that he made himself sick.
He's expected to be OK - but his mom has taken away the Xbox.
Dr. Mike Patrick, an emergency physician at Nationwide Children's Hospital, recommended that gamers use some common sense: Get plenty of food and fluids, take breaks for physical activity and get some sleep.
That is some stellar parenting right there. Way to go mom.Â
@--!--!--!-- exactly what I was going to post.
I guess this family does not eat dinner together....Did the hospital use the billing code for child neglect? Does insurance cover this???? What parent allows their son to lock himself in his room for 4 days with little family contact? I think dehydration and lack of sleep are only the tip of the iceberg here. Parents are failing their children by not spending time with them and providing a safe environment and structure that ensures the health and welfare of kids.
Mom needs to do more than just taking away the Xbox, how about making your little boy go out and work...playing
Xbox for days on end and your just sitting in the other room not aware of how and what you kid is up to.
