Kill A Watt spots wasted power
Electric devices draw power even when not in use.

An electronic gizmo that measures electricity use in the home and at work is being made available for checkout at the Eugene Public Library. EWEB purchased 15 Kill A Watts and collaborated with the library to make them available to the public. “Phantom” energy from computers, printers, flat-screen televisions, iPods and other electronic devices consumes about 6 percent of the nation’s total electricity, according to some estimates. EWEB customers and library patrons can check out the Kill A Watt from the library and use it to help monitor electrical usage at home and at work, and take steps to reduce energy consumption.
