High pressure over the northeast Pacific grew stronger in July. This maintained a dry air mass over the region. While a few afternoon thunderstorms did develop over the Cascades. None approached Eugene/Springfield area. Not a drop of rain fell at the Eugene Airport in July, making it the third July with nary a drop of rain since the early 1930s. The other two years were 2003 and 1967. With many sunny days. Temperatures were into the 80s nearly every day with a stretch of 6 days in the 90s (July 21-26). July 2013 had 28 days where the high temperature was at least 80 degree, tying the record such string with 28 set in 1985, 1970 and 1967. NEW RECORDS: July 1 tied 1942 for warmest low temp of 63 F. July 28th tied 1942 for warmest low with 63 F. July tied record for most days of 80 deg or warmer at 28, matching 1985, 1970 and 1967. July 2013 was the 4th warmest for average daily high. This was the 11th July without a drop of rain in Eugene. Other years include 1967, 1933, 1931, 1926, 1922, 1921, 1914, 1910 and 1906.
