Cougar caught near Hendricks Park, euthanized
John Schetzsle says an animal got over this fence and into enclosures where his animals lived, killing all but one of his chickens.

EUGENE, Ore. - State wildlife officials trapped and euthanized the cougar suspected of killing chickens and goats at a home east of Hendricks Park.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife investigated the predation at John Schetzsle's home after being contacted by KVAL News.

On Friday night, something killed a chicken and a goat at Schetzsle's Floral Hill Drive residence.

On Saturday night, another goat died.

He lost two chickens Sunday night.

The cat came back last night - and got trapped.

The 84-pound cat was euthanized by state officials. Cougars are territorial and not considered good candidates for relocation elsewhere in the wild, according to wildlife officials.
