The Lincoln City Kite Festival always draw a crowd.  Kite fliers from all over the world will descend upon Lincoln City on October 5-6, 2013 for the annual fall festival.  This year is expected to draw quite the number of international fliers as the 35th Annual Lincoln City Fall Kite Festival will be the kick off point for the annual American Kitefliers Association Convention and American Kitefliers Grand National Championships held October 8 through 13 in Seaside, Oregon. Fliers from all over will be warming up in Lincoln City for the convention festivities.

In addition to the international presence, the Fall Kite Festival will showcase a number of returning featured world-class fliers, including Connor and Amy Doran of The Dare to Dream Team, Gomberg Kites International, and Team Suspended Animation.

“Lincoln City’s Kite Festivals are a gathering of great people, great fliers and great fun,” said Amy Doran.  “This year’s Fall Festival is just two short days before the Convention, and you can bet you’ll see fliers from all over the world join Connor and I in Lincoln City on Oct 5 & 6.”

Connor Doran flew his way to NBC’s America’s Got Talent Top 12 spot on season 5, making him one of the world's best known kite fliers. Connor auditioned along with 90,000 people and brought indoor kite flying to the world.  Connor shares his love of kiting with new fliers as well as learning from the masters who have supported him and helped him in his journey. He has developed the Dare to Dream Program that has been shared in venues all over North America inspiring others to believe in them selves, to follow their dreams, and to speak out against bullying.  Connor also works hard to raise Epilepsy Awareness, and to advocate for epilepsy education.

With 4 AKA Grand National titles under her wing, Connor's mother Amy’s goal is to share kiting and the joy it brings with people around the world.  Amy has been privileged to work with Revolution Kites to create masterpiece series revolutions kites. Her latest Revolution kite was featured in the Masterpiece Revolution Challenge.  In 2007 she qualified for the American Kite Association National Championships in Ocean Shores, Washington where her "Charlie Chaplin" routine really emerged in the Outdoor Open Individual Ballet. "Charlie" has now won two national championships and continues to have fun with crowds all over North America.

This year's theme is Tales of Tails, honoring the pod of life-size Gray Whale kites that will be on display throughout the two-day festival along with other colorful kites and giant inflatables.  Professional stunt kite teams will return, performing their unique synchronized kite flying routines set to music, one of the event's key crowd pleasers year after year.

This free event will run from 10am-4pm each day: scheduled activities include kid's kitemaking, running of the bols, kite parades, and beach safety tips.
