Wolf pup discovered by campers heading to Busch Gardens

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Idaho Fish and Game says a lost wolf pup found near Ketchum in May has a new home.

Officials say the pup is on its way to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia after they felt the park would be a suitable destination. Busch Gardens currently has nine wolves.

Fish and Game says it spent several days searching for a wolf pack in the area to return the pup, but couldn't find any sign of one.

It took a couple of weeks for Fish and Game to determine whether the pup was actually a wolf. But a blood sample recently confirmed it was no dog-hybrid. Biologists earlier this year said that there are between 500-600 wolves roaming throughout the state.
