Vintage Land Rover overturns, traps driver during off-road outing

YAKIMA, Wash. - A Land Rover overturned backwards on a steep hill, trapping the driver inside after the gears in the rear differential broke, sheriff's deputies said.
Allen Desteiguer, 66, from Vashon, Wash., was taken to the hospital from the scene of the accident by air ambulance.
Desteiguer was unconscious and trapped under his 1974 Land Rover when emergency crews arrived Sunday afternoon.
He was off-roading with members of a club when the crash happened around 4:45 p.m.
An off-duty Joint Base Lewis McCord service member helped take the victim up a steep hill where a LifeFlight helicopter flew him to the hospital, according to the sheriff's office.
Desteiguer suffered several broken ribs and lower back fractures. Deputies said his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
Guess it has been a slow week end and Monday...not much "local" news!!!
Hope all turns out well here!
Hope the guy will be ok. Role bar might have helped, good thing it did not land in the mud puddle, or maybe that would have been softer.
