MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – An injured bald eagle is recovering after it was found by some McMinnville residents on Saturday.

The residents called police after they found the eagle in some brush at their mobile home park. The officer confirmed the bird was a bald eagle and called the Audubon Society.

According to Deb Sheaffer at the Audubon Society, the eagle is a female and is likely five to six years old.

Scheaffer thinks the bird hit her head on something. She also has a serious shoulder injury and some injuries on her feet.

The eagle is in stable condition, but Sheaffer said she's not sure if the bird will recover enough to be released in the wild again. The bird is receiving care and being treated with antibiotics.

If the eagle does recover completely, she will be released back to her territorial area in McMinnville.
