Cannabus canna-busted: 'A lot of wasted resources'
EUGENE, Ore. - The Cannabus got canna-busted by Coburg Police on Monday afternoon on I-105 in Eugene near Interestate 5.
Police said the officer stopped the 1988 GMC bus for an unlawful lane change.
The officer reported "smell from vehicle overwhelmingly that of green marijuana," the police department said in a press release. "During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers found over an ounce of marijuana and hashish."
Police cited passenger Kristin Flor for Unlawful Possession of Less than an Ounce of Marijuana.
The driver,Cash Williams, was cited for Unlawful Lane Change and Opearting a Vehicle without a Valid Operator's License.
Stacy Theis, one of the riders on the bus, said the group of activists are affiliated with "CannaSense" and advocate for medical marijuana in states where the drug is not legal for medicinal purposes.
"I help educate patients," Theis said. "It's frustrating that a plant, a natural plant that does so much good for people wastes so much money. Federal law versus state law is really causing a lot of horrible suffering for people and wasted tax dollars. And as you see, we are pulled over right now: a lot of wasted resources."
Theis said someone on the bus was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. KVAL News has not been able to independently verify that information.
An illegal lane change by a driver without proper license to drive a bus, in my opinion, has nothing to do with marijuana.  The officer was doing his job keeping the roads safe for all of us, if you are not properly licensed, STAY OFF THE ROAD!!!!  I am guessing that the chosen colorful artwork on the outside of the bus might have been what caused the policeman to to look in the direction of the bus when he happened see the illegal lane change.  The bright colors on the bus were what first caught my eye.  Once pulled over the officer had a sworn duty to investigate the smell of marijuana drifting from the bus.  If the person in possession was not driving and had an Oregon Green Card to carry and the person was not carrying over the amount permitted on the card, I'm sure it would have been a non-story and no citation for the possession would have been issued.
Considering marijuana isn't legal in Oregon (MMJ aside), driving down the road in a bus painted to celebrate marijuana when you have marijuana inside is a pretty stupid thing to do. Common sense folks!!!
Isn't Coberg a little town north of Eugene where the mayor got busted for growing cannabis? Maybe the town is afraid of competition?

 @LEON NARD Even the lowliest thug on the street is helping people get their medicine.  They are doing God's work.  Stoners are the original Patriots!  The Founding Fathers grew cannabis as a part of daily life, the Greatest Generation grew cannabis to defeat Hitler.  It was ment to be legal tender.  Stoners need to reclaim their heritage.
