Disgraced former Oregon governor suffers stroke

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The wife of former Oregon Gov. Neil Goldschmidt confirms he suffered a stroke but says he is all right.
The Oregonian reports that the 72-year-old Goldschmidt suffered the stroke recently. Beyond confirming the stroke and saying her husband is OK, Diana Snowden would provide no other details.
The newspaper reported Monday that the former governor was briefly hospitalized.
Goldschmidt was governor from 1987 to 1991.
Before that he worked in President Jimmy Carter's administration, was an executive at Nike and served as mayor of Portland in the 1970s.
In 2004, Goldschmidt admitted having sex with a 14-year-old girl while he was mayor of Portland. The statute of limitations had expired, so Goldschmidt was immune from prosecution.

As a retired Elem. Educator and grandmother of a 14 yr. old girl, I think that there should NOT be a time limit on prosecution of a possible pedifile. Â Children who have been violated often have an extremely difficult time living a 'normal' life. Â Why should the perpetrator get off scott free?
As a retired educator (Grades 3-6) and grandmother of a 14 yr. old girl, I personally feel that there should NOT be a time limit on prosecution of a pedifile. Â That child's life is changed forever, and probably not for the better. Â
I can only hope his remaining days on this earth are riddled with never ending pain and suffering.
the many different things we are sometimes not taught at home nor at school, but society has crude, and cruel ways of teaching what some old men should have learned as they were aging, others simply think they are immune and above those rules of law . for others, it the smile from the pretty young thing, with the come here and get this for free, not being aware of sent packages, in most cases, it is about the money, further called and termed Entrapment . the cause oftentimes is unknown, only to the prep/s .
Elvis had a young 14 year old and he was an American idol. Charlie Chaplin also. Not passing judgement just saying.

@OregonOrator wasn't  looking at  political side of it OO.  Is working at Nike liberal?  Is slaving out thousands of Asians for Nike liberal or conservative? So we can buy 2 dollar shoes for $100.00? Is promoting slave labor over jobs in Oregon liberal? If it is we are up brown colored creek.  Educate me on that one OO.  Â
Ah...so you really were passing judgement, I see but trying to disguise it with the 'ol cliche'd "just saying" disclaimer. We gotcha.
