PARIS - The president of France wants to ban homework - and extend the school week.

President François Hollande said school work should be done at school with teachers.

He wants to extend the school week from 4 days to 4 1/2 days.

Hollande promises to hire more teachers and give incentives to those educators willing to work in what he calls "difficult areas."

Hollande said these changes would improve educational equality, especially for children who don't have the proper support at home
