Kitzhaber plans new trade mission to Asia

SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Gov. John Kitzhaber plans a 10-day October trip to China and Japan to promote Oregon products and attract new investment to his state.
The governor also led a business and trade mission to Asia last September, when he visited South Korea, China and Japan.
In announcing the trip Wednesday, the governor said promoting Oregon products is vital at a time when the state's economy is increasingly dependent on global sales.
Kitzhaber says Japan is Oregon's most important export market for agricultural products and China is the state's second-largest trading partner.
Public and private sector leaders will accompany the governor, who plans to leave Oct. 14 and return Oct. 25.
