EUGENE, Ore. - The Eugene attorney appointed to a vacant seat on the Circuit Court bench by the governor who didn't file for re-election in time to appear on the ballot has won a write-in contest for the position.
Jay McAlpin won the November 6 write-in vote. He was one of at last 4 candidates running active write-in campaigns for Lane County Circuit Court, position 7.
Lane County Elections tallied more than 38,000 write-in ballots by hand. They said McAlpin won the count. Final numbers from the write-in won't be released until the results are certified, the county elections chief said.
