Robinson: 'We've taken a tremendous step in the direction we want to go'
EUGENE, Ore. - A different campaign, a different year - but the message is the same from Republican Art Robinson.
"I think the government has gotten way too big, and that of course is what's shutting down our economy," said Robinson, a candidate for Congress running against incumbent Rep. Peter DeFazio of Springfield.
The 2012 election is a rematch of the 2010 battle. That contest was noted for its testiness, and this year is no different.
KVAL News asked Robinson about DeFazio's claims that Robinson is a right wing extremist who's trying to eliminate public education.
"Well, that's not true," Robinson said. "I do want to get the federal government out of public education and return our schools to local control."
Robinson filed a lawsuit against DeFazio over billboards sponsored by DeFazio's re-election committee designed to look like Robinson's billboards. The billboards are designed to look like they come from the Robinson campaign and make what he calls false claims about his stands on education and Social Security.
"When he started putting up big billboards, with no disclaimer at all, and my polls showed me that a lot of people believed that those were my boards, I took action," Robinson said.
Robinson blames big government and the deficit for the continued tepid recovery. He said the department of education and other agencies should be closed.
"Diminishing the impact of overreaching agencies in this country would be like the biggest tax cut in American history," Robinson said. "The economy would go straight up."
Robinson's 7,100 donors donated $370,000 in the third quarter, more than DeFazio, although the Congressman had more cash on hand.
Speaking before Republicans in Eugene monday, Robinson the scientist sounded confident.
"We've taken a tremendous step in the direction we want to go," he said.
Here is what Art Robinson's party has in mind for America....lies and deception is their game. They do not care what they say to get elected. Lies are just part of their "game" don't be fooled by big money buying this country it is happening all the way to the top. Corporations and Wall Street - big money want to own this country and run it through puppets and Art Robinson is one their puppets. Last week ro-money had the nerve to lie to the people of Ohio about GM and plans to ship jobs to China - NOT TRUE out and out lie - anything to get elected...here is what ro-money had to say about what happen when GM needed help to survive.

Art Robinson's website does NOT say "I think public schools should be abolished." You are looking at a DeFazio website that is designed so you have to scroll to the bottom to see who it is from. This is just another DeFazio trick to deceive voters.
Â
This kind of trick - similar to the billboards - is a highly unethical but effective way of fooling people.

Noah Robinson
@Noah Robinson Robinson is a nut job...I am a voter so sue me... Art..
Â
This attack from the Republican party in Primarily Democratic states has been vicious.
I saw a super pac ad on regular TV last night that was nothing but Lies about Peter DeFazio..out right lies. Super Pacs don't realize when they state "he voted against this or that" we can get on the internet and check it out? Voting in the house is public record...liars don't think about that? I was watching commercial TV waiting for Jay Leno to see one of the greatest Presidents of my time!
Â
Art is a scam to fill another Republican seat in the house that is all he does not care about Oregon or the people he is a bought and paid for corporate warm body. The super pac ad proves that.
Â
Art and Noah - you are not wanted nor do you belong in Oregon politics plain and simple.
@Noah Robinson I know you're just protecting family, but c'mon dude, really? Up and down the I5 corridor Art has signs that say something like "I will fight to put back the 700 billion STOLEN from Medicare". The non partisan CBO has stated it will SAVE this much in waste over a decade. The AARP has given it a thumbs up, as well as the AMA.
Â
How can this man say here in this article he is not against public education and his political web page states in very large bold letters "I think public schools should be abolished"
I think Art is suffering from Romnesia.....just like a republican...go away Art we like REAL PEOPLE not bought and paid for politicians and Art Robinson is bought and paid for by big corporations to do their dirty work....this guy needs to stop the lies. He is not honest or trustworthy. You don't like clear cutting now....watch what happens with this guy in place...we will need to rename our forest to baldy patch...and what use to be...Art Robinson is not a good choice for Oregon.
What a nutcase. Â He wants to "improve" schools by getting rid of the department of education. Â He wants to have zero oversight of the environment by getting rid of the EPA. Â He wants to improve the economy by getting rid of the IRS. Â You can't fix the government by destroying its institutions. Â It's like organizing your home by burning it down. Â Stupidity. Â Read Robinson's own words here: www.whoisartrobinson.com
@Baldr Odinson If Robinson is a nutcase what does that make DeFazio. I guess DeFazio wants to make our schools better indocrination centers which is what they have been since the late 1960's. The EPA is an agenda (not science) driven liberal agency. It is killing jobs, has no conceptually skilled people working there, just agenda driven liberals. As for the IRS who knows what they do other than process billions upon billions of wasted dollars to who knows where. Yes things are in really great shape and you just keep voting like you do. I will see you and all your buddies in the food line.
@Baldr Odinson Since the inception of the department of uneducation, this country's children have been dumbed down. My grandparents both only had a eighth grade education, but my grandfather owned five lumber stores and my grandmother could converse with kings, queens heads of corporations and presidents. As for the EPA and the IRS, I have no real comment on.
Art Robinson is not a person that truly holds the best interest of Oregon at heart. He does not know this state nor does he truly care about the people or businesses here. He is running for one reason, he is republican. That is it. He has outside monies to gain another republican seat in the house, that will equal to one more vote in the house...that is his agenda. He does not care about this state...never has. When was the last time you heard him hold a public forum on ANYTHING? When the postal service was planning on closing down local postal offices it was not Art that spoke with the public...that was Peter DeFazio. When the government shut down teen programs it was not Art that stood up in the house against cutting this wonderful teen program...it was Peter DeFazio. Art Robertson is not in this for anything more than getting another seat in the house for the Republicans...that is it. His talk is non sense and No he does support public education...if you think it is not working now...vote this guy in and watch it really go to hell. What has happen here in Oregon is not unique all states are having a difficult time, Art Robinson is not a person that will make it better, he will not work for this state the way Peter has done and he is not opposed to big government he is opposed to the money from big government going somewhere besides his pocket....VOTE PETER DEFAZIO. He know Oregon and he cares, he is not a sell out to big corporate monies...that is Art Robinson...he is a sell out.
Career politicians need to be replaced, just like worn out shoes need to be replaced. If nothing is working, the thing to do is fix what is not working. This is common sense. We are not sheep, we were designed to lead not follow. Where has our system of education taken us? Stand up people before it can't be fixed.
AMEN my good man
I would like to see Oregon go in another direction. I tired of this welfare state giving to the undeserved that like to live off government. I would like the state to be a little purple than dark blue. We need to help the employee's that hire people not the people that take advantage of government handouts.
@Ah Shucks We have been helping the employers.  It hasn't done very much.
Art thinks a step in the right direction is back to the Dark Ages.
Unfortunately, no ONE politician can change the masses of others who donât want change. WHY would all the other politicians, who have been there for years want to change the status quo, when it has been so very great for them, financially? THEY DONâT! And until EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM ARE GONE, NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE! That is why, even if you donât totally believe in the new ones putting their hats in the ring, you should vote against EVERY INCUMBENT politician out there. But again, this will NEVER work, because it would take EVERY SINGLE VOTER to do it: NATIONWIDE.
I think that smaller government is much better, (Iâm sick of them telling me that they are better at knowing what is good for me than I am myself) but I really am not holding my breath for it.
According to Robinson, government has gotten too big. But if we look at his life, he's been riding the government for years. He's a scientist who received Federal grants in order to keep working. He sends his kids to public universities which also receive Federal grants in order to make a living. He has no problem with "big" government, as long as it's he and his family that gets that largess. If you believe in that kind of hypocrisy, then I guess Art is your kind of guy....
 @calmplexx That's the Republican way.
 @oregonhusker  @calmplexx Ain't it though!!!!!
