MILWAUKIE, Ore. – The name: "Glock Block." The slogan: "We don't call 9-1-1."

Coy Tolonen says she's done with calling 9-1-1 and is ready to take action herself.

"I think it's time to let these criminals know not to come into our neighborhood," she says.

She's a grandmother who battled and beat breast cancer. She says it made her tough and she doesn't put up with anything. So when someone stole her favorite statue in her yard Thursday, she took off after the thief, yelling.

"If I didn't have a bad knee, I'm sure I would have caught him," she says.

So she's had enough. She's turned her fear into an idea and started passing out posters with the name of her group and its slogan. She posted one at her home.

"If you do come in my home, I will shoot you," she says.

Tolonen says more than a dozen neighbors have shown interest so far and she's heard from others from all over. But some people along her street aren't so sure.

"That's taking it to the extreme at this point," says neighbor Terri Miller. "If someone else wants to do that, and that keeps me safe, fine, but I don't want to be a part of that."

Tolonen says she's not really worried about putting those who join in danger.

"When you do the right thing and you step up to protect people, you put your life in danger," she says.

The meetings for her group will happen at the firing range.

Tolonen emphasizes responsibility with guns. She says she has hers in a safe at home, which is bolted to the floor. She is in the process of getting a permit to carry.

A sheriff's spokesman encourages people to take appropriate measures to protect themselves but to do it safely. He says they do their best to respond to calls for service but they sometimes have to prioritize those calls.
