EUGENE, Ore. – Duck fans can breathe a little bit easier after that one.

Oregon held off the Purdue Boilermakers in the final minutes and got the win, 38-36 at Autzen Stadium.

The Ducks, up by eight points with less than seven minutes remaining in the game, surrendered a touchdown pass from Purdue wide reciever Keith Smith to fellow wideout  Aaron Valentin with just over one minute left in regulation.

The two-point conversion was incomplete, however, and the Ducks and head coachChip Kelly could finally celebrate their first victory of the year.

Tied at 17 at halftime, Purdue took the lead on a one-yard run by running back Ralph Bolden.

Less than three minutes after that score, the Ducks' defensive back Javes Lewis picked up a botched snap by Purdue quarterback Joey Elliott and ran 30 yards for the touchdown to once again tie the game at 24.

Jeremiah Masoli ran it in from 15 yards out near the end of the third quarter to give Oregon the lead 31-24, but once again the Boilermakers responded with a touchdown drive of their own. The extra point attempt, however, was blocked by the Ducks and they kept their lead at 31-30.

Converted defensive back to running back Kenjon Barner ran one in from 21 yards with 6:42 remaining in the fourth, and that was the go-ahead score for the Ducks.

Despite Purdue outgaining the Ducks by almost 100 yards in total offense, the Ducks had two defensive touchdowns and also forced Purdue into three turnovers.

The Ducks scored first in the game off a 28-yard field goal by Morgan Flint, but Purdue responded by driving 70 yards and capping it off with a Jaycen Taylor five-yard touchdown run.

Oregon then scored to make the score 10-7, with Andre Crenshaw running it in from two yards out. The Boilermakers scored shortly after the beginning of the second quarter on a Ralph Bolden 19-yard touchdown scamper.

With Purdue leading 14-10, Oregon cornerback Walter Thurmond III intercepted a Joey Elliott pass and returned it 18 yards for the touchdown to put the Ducks back on top, 17-14.

Purdue then ended the first half by scoring three points to tie the game, a 23-yard field goal by Carson Wiggs.
