Nick Aliotti talks to reporters after the Oregon Alamo Bowl victory

EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon's defense scored 14 of the team's 30 points and held Texas to just 7, the fewest points the Ducks had allowed in a bowl game in the 1920 Rose Bowl.

"This is better than the dream I could have had," said Nick Allioti, the veteran Duck defensive coordinator who announced on the eve of the Alamo Bowl that he planned to retire after the game.

"Most of the time in my career I've had a bunch of young men who I could count on that they would always play hard for me," Aliotti said. "I'm tough, sometimes I'm a little more crusty than they'd like.

"I think they really wanted to get this one for me."
