Beaver Football: 'We're hungry'

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Over the years, Mike Riley's teams have had a knack for knocking off highly ranked teams, whether it's USC, California or Arizona. He says the key to that is preparation.
With an extra week of practice, the Beavers are as prepared as they'll ever be.
"We're ready to go," said Jordan Poyer. "The team unity is here. We've been grinding all preseason, and we're just ready to get after it. We're hungry."
The Beavers are hoping to start the season on the right foot, but that became a lot more difficult after the Nicholls State game was postponed.
"Some people might look at it like, 'Oh we haven't played a game yet.' But at the same time, we've had a lot of good work at practice," said Sean Mannion. "I think it will show in the game."
Last season the Beavers were shutout 35-0 in Madison. In that game, Oregon State only managed 23-yards on the ground. Red shirt freshman Storm Woods, who will be playing in his very first college game, is hoping to change that this time around.
"My heart will be racing, but at the same time, I'll be ready to play some football," said Woods. "Just go out there and execute and do everything I can to help us win. What better way to open up our season at home, against Wisconsin."
