Oregon sophomore tight end Colt Lyerla was a two-way player at linebacker and running back at Hillsboro High School, and the five-star recruit wound up in the backfield for the No. 2 Ducks in Saturday's 49-0 shutout of Arizona.
Lyerla carried the ball 7 times for 63 yards and ran for a touchdown. (Lyerla admits he should have let go of the ball and allow Bryan Bennett score on the zone-read play near the goal line.)
Lyerla also caught 2 balls for 53 yards in the victory over the Wildcats.
Monday, Colt spoke with the media about his new responsibilities in the Oregon offense to bring an element of power to the run game.
The Ducks (4-0) travel to Seattle and CenturyLink Field to play the Cougars (2-2) on Saturday at 7:30.
The following week at Autzen Stadium with Washington has been set for 7:30 as well.
