EUGENE - The #5 seed University of Oregon volleyball team (27-4) capped a successful first weekend of NCAA action with a 3-0 win over Dayton (27-5) Saturday night at Matthew Knight Arena.

The Ducks upped their consecutive set win streak to 15 with its 25-15, 25-20, 25-21 NCAA Second-Round victory over the Atlantic-10 champion Flyers.

UO now looks ahead to its third 'Sweet 16' trip under eighth-year head coach Jim Moore (and fourth overall) thanks to another balanced effort that featured its 16th +.300 hitting mark of the season (.350), and seventh-best overall among its 31 matches.

Similarly on defense, Oregon tied its season high in blocks (10.0) and held Dayton to a .173 hitting percentage - the 21st team to hit .200 or less on the campaign.

In other team comparisons, UO held edges in kills (53-35), assists (46-34), digs (50-46), blocks (10.0-5.0); the two teams tied in aces (3-3); and Dayton held an advantage in fewest service errors (3-7).

Sophomore outside hitter Liz Brenner paced the team in hitting (.458) with her 10th +.400 total of the season. The All-Pac-12 selection added eighth digs and four blocks en route to 15.5 points.

Pac-12 Player of the Year Alaina Bergsma topped the team in kills (16) for the 21st time this season. She added five digs and three blocks, and her 19.5 points topped the team in the category for the 20th time in '12.

Freshman middle blocker Canace Finley notched her third-highest kill total of the season (7), and her 0 errors on 11 attempts gave her a season-best .636 hitting mark. Her team-high five blocks led the team for the ninth time this season, and was UO's second-highest total for a three-set match behind her seven at Portland State in early September.

Senior libero Haley Jacob anchored the defense with 16 digs - her fifth-best total among the team's 21 three-set matches this season.

Pac-12 Setter of the Year Lauren Plum posted 41 assists, and her 12 digs marked her sixth double-double this season and 25th career-wise.

Seeing their 19-match win streak come to an end, Dayton's category leaders included Rachel krabacher (16 kills, .235, 18.5 points), Samantha Selsky (27 assists), Janna Krafka (11 digs) and Isolde Hannan (4 blocks).

Saturday's outcome tied the program's all-time best win total since the start of NCAA play in 1981 with its 1984 mark (27-12) - albeit two years before the start of Pac-12 play. Likewise, UO's 16-4 Pac-12 ledger earned it a best-ever second-place Pac-12 finish, and improved upon its former fourth-best finishes in 2008, 1989, '87 and '86.

Looking ahead, UO next plays BYU in Omaha, Neb., in the NCAA Third Round on Friday, December 7. The winner advances to Saturday's NCAA Regional Final vs. the winner of Friday's match between #4 seed Nebraska and #13 seed Washington.

Every match in the nation's four regionals, semifinal and final will be broadcast live by ESPN2 and ESPN3.com.
