EUGENE – Sporting its highest-ever national ranking, the No. 2 University of Oregon volleyball team (11-0, 2-0) returns home for its second week of Pac-12 play to host Utah (9-6, 0-2) and Colorado (11-3, 1-1) this week.
One of three unbeaten teams left in the nation this week, the Ducks also hope to celebrate a 500th career win for eighth-year head coach Jim Moore. In his 24th year in the collegiate ranks, Moore enters the weekend with a 499-237 record.
The Ducks come off a memorable week to open Pac-12 play after their sweeps at the returning conference champion and then-No. 2 Trojans and vs. then-No. 26 Beavers. Last Friday, Oregon ended a 21-match losing streak in Troy, and two days before claimed its 11th win vs. the Beavers in the last 13 Civil War meetings.
In return for the team’s success, junior Lauren Plum picked up the team’s sixth AVCA national player of the week honor in as many years. The All-Pac-12 setter also leads the nation in assists (13.09 per set), while the Ducks rank first nationally team-wise in kills (15.95 p/s) and third in hitting (.329).
