KVAL Predictions: The Golden Eagles have landed

It’s week three of the college football season. The Beavers have a bye, and the Ducks finish non-conference play with Tennessee Tech. Time for PREDICTIONS.
Tennessee Tech vs. Oregon
Tom: Not a lot of drama in this one, as Tennessee Tech is the definition of a cupcake. This is simply another chance for the Ducks to improve on some of the mistakes they’ve been making in the first games. Against Fresno State, Oregon allowed three sacks of quarterback Marcus Mariota, and the redshirt freshman fumbled twice. Looking at the video, those are things that can easily be cleaned up, and the Golden Eagles are not on par with Fresno. Tech is 2-0, but their wins were a pair of home wins against Hampton and North Greenville. Look for the backups by mid to late 2nd quarter. Tennessee Tech: 9 Oregon: 63
Nick: Tennessee Tech walks away with a nice paycheck and a sound thrashing. De'Anthony Thomas furthers his Heisman chase with three more touchdowns (23 TD in 16 career games, nuts), this time he gets one in the return game. The injuries have begun to pile up for the Ducks, so Chip Kelly gets his starters out early to save some bodies for Arizona the following week. For the first time this season, Oregon will win a second half, but I'm not sure it means much against the Golden Eagles from the Ohio Valley Conference. Aren't we all ready for gone REAL football games? Soon enough the real season begins. Tennessee Tech: 10 Oregon: 62
Dirk: The Ducks still have something to prove. They haven’t played a complete game yet. I thought the defense would be much better than it has shown so far this season. Oregon’s defense has given up 59 points in the first two games. On the other side of the ball, the offense has looked unstoppable at times and average at other times. Oregon’s offense has been nearly lights out in the first half, scoring 85 points in the first half of the first two games. However, the Ducks have managed to score just 14 points in the second half of the first two games. Tennessee Tech is an FCS school (1-AA). The Golden Eagles also run a no-huddle, spread offense. This could be a track meet. I could see Oregon scoring 72. I could see Oregon scoring 42 again. I could see TT scoring 27. I could see TT scoring 7. Tennessee Tech: 16 Oregon: 59
Phil: The Ducks have a hard time getting quality opponents to come to Autzen Stadium, so I don’t blame anyone for this week’s opponent. But just like the first three weeks, this thing isn’t going to be close. As usual, I think the Ducks will come out on fire and build a big lead. Once the game is out of hand, the Golden Eagles will score a couple of meaningless touchdowns. Wake me up when Arizona comes to town next week. Tennessee Tech: 14 Oregon: 57
The Standings
After two weeks, Dirk and Tom are out in front. Tom was the closest to the correct scores last week, but none of the sports guys correctly predicted the Beavers upset.
1. Dirk: 2-1 (3), 1. Tom: 2-1 (3), 2. Nick: 2-1 (2), 2. Phil: 2-1 (2)
