North Eugene Football '12: Getting a win

EUGENE, Ore. -- High school football begins on Friday and our season preview continues at North Eugene.

In his second season as head coach, Edmund Rivera is trying to change the culture. He says the goal is simply to win a game this season, after the Highlanders went 0-7 a year ago.

"Even at schools that win all the time it's a culture," says Rivera. "If you've been down for a couple years, it becomes a mind set. So we're trying to break through that. We're trying to come to the other side of the coin so to speak and start a winning tradition."

North Eugene kicks off the season this Friday at Summit.

Western Oregon's longest running and hardest hitting high school football highlights show, High School Gameday, returns on Friday September 7th on KVAL-TV.
