Super Bowl Weather Prep
A snow melting truck is demonstrated Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at Met Life Stadium today, trucks like these will be used in case it snows during this years Super Bowl. This truck melts 600 tons of snow per hour, and turns it to water, which runs into a drainage sewer. Officials from the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee, NFL, and NJ Department of Transportation joined together for a briefing on the weather preparedness plan for Super Bowl XLVIII to be played at MetLife Stadium on February 2. With more than 400,000 visitors expected to come to the region for game-related events, and about 80,000 attending the game, removing potential snow from all designated travel routes will be critical to safely moving visitors throughout the region.
