Oregon Civil War: Comcast and Dish to show game, but not DirecTV
EUGENE, Ore. - Satellite installer David Lamica finds himself extra busy this week.
"More phone calls, specifically from people switching from DirecTV to Dish Network - and wanting it done by Saturday noon time," Lamica told KVAL News.
Duck and Beaver fans anxiously wait all season for the Oregon Civil War, coming up this weekend at noon at Reser Stadium in Corvallis.
"A lot of people are football crazy around here," Lamica said, "and if the Ducks or the Beavers, if they can't see their game, they go crazy about that."
But not everyone will get to cheer their favorite team from home.
The game airs at noon Saturday on the new Pac-12 Network. Customers with Comcast or Dish Network will get the game.
But if you have DirecTV, sorry: you're out of luck. The Pac-12 and DirecTV don't have an agreement for the network's content to go out to DirecTV's subscriber.
Neither the Pac-12 nor DirecTV responded to interview requests from KVAL News on Monday.
Die-hard duck fan Jerry Callister of Springfield will be one of the DirecTV customers who can't get the Civil War game at home.
"Of course, I'm bummed," he said. "I checked in with DirecTV. They said they're having a hassle getting a good price out of the Pac-12 Network, so here I sit."
Aside from the Oregon Civil War game, Callister said he has been pretty happy with DirecTV.
Instead of switching providers, he is heading down the street to O'briens in Springfield on game day.
One of the regulars there told KVAL News she gets the game at home but will be at the bar on Saturday anyway.
"It's almost like a big giant indoor tailgate," Mona Lynch said. "We got food, booze and everybody cheering and having a great time."
Here is a link for the Duck/Beaver Civil War on television: http://www.goducks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=500&ATCLID=205436956Â - enter your zip code, then your tv provider, and it will come up with what channel(s) the game is on - then scroll down and find where it says to "click here" to get your provider to add that channel in the event you want to watch the game. Enjoy!Â
I have Direct TV but I don't agree with the Pac 12 network as they want way to much money for just one telecast of one game. The providers that do show the Civil War will be charging more in the future for their added cost and I won't support them. If you want to blame somebody, blame the Pac 12 network, why did they choose this one game? It's to make you demand Direct TV show the game so they can make a larger profit.
Where are the occupiers now?
@Franklyspeaking When  you learn of the pecking order for Pac 12 games, you're going to feel foolish for you post.
@oregonhusker I'm sure that you really think that but I will stand by my words. There are to many networks showing other games to make the Pac12 network a viable expense. No matter what the pecking order. They claim to be a basic channel now but that will change as soon as enough of you fools subscribe. Do you know who owns Comcast and how Dish network operates? Do some homework.
Damn you Direct TV!!!!
Can't the two teams help out here and insists that the games can be view by all supporters ??
Â
Why wouldn't you just switch to Dish Network? I have had cable, DirecTV and Dish Network at various times over the past 10 years and am here to tell you there isn't that big of a difference overall...except that now there's the PAC 12 Network! And it isn't even a part of a premium sports package on Dish...its a "basic" channel.
Â
I can't understand the comment "I don't want a dish".
@SoCal Ducks Fan No NFL Network or MLB Network on Dish because Dish Network is too greedy to offer them.. Need my Red Sox and Broncos too! I'll find a place to watch the couple of games Ducks games a season that they manage land.
Â
Guess where switching to dish! Direct Tv Fail!
Â
Thank you for the link. We will definitely check it out.
If you are all looking to view the game online you can go to

@itsivxx That link is a joke I'm sorry to say....a more confusing process I cannot find....
Everyone seems to forget that there are many Charter Communications customers in rural areas (Elmira, Veneta) that also cannot watch the game because Charter and Pac12 also have not reached an agreement. When visiting each of their websites, they point to the other and ask that people email or tweet them regarding the lack of agreement. In the meantime, this will be the first civil war football game in I don't know how many years that will not be broadcast on a channel that most folks can watch. So sad that Pac 12 does not care about ALL of their fans, especially in the rural areas. So sad that we have two great football teams--local--that we would like to see play and most of the time we can't. We have no choice in cable providers out here and we don't want a dish. So, we will watch the game from my sister's home in Eugene who has Comcast cable. Pac 12 Network is quite a dis-service to us. If they were going to launch this network, they should have all of their "ducks in a row" with agreements with all cable providers PRIOR to airing their games. This season has been a disappointment in our ability to watch our favorite teams.Â
@susieqg I agree with you totally, I also feel that if anyone should be able to see the Civil War Game it should be all OREGONIANS. It seems wrong that we here in Oregon cannot watch an Oregon game from home. I for one cannot stand any of the cable or dish suppliers but am forced to have Charter Cable because they are the only ones who offer high speed internet in my area, if I lived a block over I could get comcast, as for dish network and direct tv I could not handle the game playing and changes they continued to make in their programing.
@susieqg I quite agree,, monopolies have taken over and its all about the money!
