Eugene, OR - Mercedes Russell scored 30 points and held Marist post Hanna Mack to eight points in leading Springfield past the Spartans on Tuesday 56-43.

The Millers entered the game with a 5-0 Midwestern League record while Marist came in at 4-2 and tied with Willamette for second place.

Springfield took a 15 point lead in the third quarter when Russell found Niki Duncan open for a three-pointer.  Duncan knocked it down to give the Millers a 38-23 lead.  Duncan scored 12 points.

Marist cut the deficit to eight in the fourth quarter on a Dani Krier three, but that was as close as the Spartans got.

Russell scored back-to-back buckets to push the Miller lead up to 12.

Springfield plays at North Eugene on Thursday while Marist is at Sheldon.
