South Eugene boys soccer wins hybrid Midwestern League

EUGENE, Ore. -- The South Eugene boys soccer team claimed the hybrid Midwestern League title on Wednesday with a 2-0 victory over Sheldon.

Matt Arbogast got the Axemen on the board in the first half with a blast from just outside the box to make it 1-0.

In the second half, Ricardo Gomez sealed the deal with a late goal to make it 2-0.

With the win, South Eugene claimed the hybrid Midwestern League title.

The Axemen still have two regular season games remaining, including a showdown with the Grant Generals next Thursday.

Sheldon has just one game left, against Lincoln next Thursday.
