Sheldon senior Jackson Darland won the 6A boys race in 15:40 at the OSAA State Cross Country Championships at Lane Community College on Saturday afternoon in Eugene.
Future Oregon Duck, Dan Oekerman from Beaverton was second in 15:48.
South Eugene's Liam Chapin-Jones was sixth in 16:16.
The Irish placed fourth behind the champions from Central Catholic.
The South Eugene girls did not repeat as team champs but Sara Tsai won the individual title as the Southwest Conference Champion was the runner up a year ago. The sophomore finished in 17:42. Right on her heels was Sheldon senior Maggie Schmaedick who was second in 17:46.
South Eugene's Erin Clark was sixth in 18:08 and Sheldon's Gracie Todd was seventh in 18:27.
The Axe finished fifth as Grant won the team race.
The Siuslaw Vikings defending their 4A boys state title as senior Matthew Campbell won with Vikes' junior Mitchell Butler right with him, both crossed at 15:49 on the 5K course.
Mack Marbas was fifth for the Vikings as well. Hayden Schaffner was ninth.
The Siuslaw girls placed fifth and Katy Potter won the individual championship as the senior won in 18:56.
In 5A girls, Marist's Monica Anderson was the top local finisher. The Midwestern League champion placed eighth in 19:22. The Spartans placed seventh as a team. The Corvallis Spartans were second with 91 points, Summit won it all with 83 points.
No local runners placed in the top ten for the 5A boys, but Corvallis was seventh, Marshfield ninth, Marist 11th, Crescent Valley 12th.
In 3A, Creswell's Olivia Powell was unable to repeat as champion, placing third (19:55) behind Union's Katriel O'Reilly (19:06)
Union also won the team title, the Creswell Bulldogs were fourth.
