Set to open in January of 2011, Matthew Knight Arena received part its crown jewel on Monday.

The steel substructure for the state-of-the-art scoreboard was raised to the rafters. The structure was built at Eugene Sign and Awning.

At completion, the scoreboard will be nearly three stories high and 36-feet wide. It is believed to be one of the largest video boards ever in a college arena. (Second to only Ohio State.)

Four high definition 6mm screens will eventually be installed (12x20 each) within the one-of-kind "O" design. It will consist of about 2 million LED's.

The price tag for all of the scoreboards in the arena (hustle boards and ribbon board) will come to about $6 million.
