With a logjam of talent at the tight end position, Redshirt Junior Gabe Miller decided his skills could better serve the Beavers on the other side of the ball. After Winter term, Miller approached Head Coach Mike Riley with idea, he was open to the idea.

"I think it makes more sense for me to use my speed and natural ability coming off the edge. it just kind of fits," says Miller.

Miller has a defensive background, he was named the state's Defensive Player of the year at Lake Oswego High School but that was four years ago.

"It's a whole different mentality. On offense it's all about getting your foot work right, your technique and getting in front of people. Where on defense you just got to fire out, hit people and find the ball"

The question is can Miller remain healthy? He has already faught back from a blown right achilles twice. Gabe says that is in the past. "I don't even worry about it anymore, I am feeling about as healthy as I ever have. I feel like I have all the same athletic ability, switching directions. I feel like iIhad before and I feel like I have that back."
