LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Oregon State gambled in Las Vegas and won.

The Beavers used a last-second field goal to knock off the UNLV Rebels 23-21, with Jacquizz Rodgers leading the way.

Rodgers had 166 yards rushing and one touchdown, and also added 11 catches for 80 yards. With UNLV blanketing the other Rodgers brother, James, for most of the day, Jacquizz took some pressure off of Beavers quarterback Sean Canfield with some huge plays both on the ground and in the recieving game.

The Beavers led 6-0 at halftime, the only score at that point being a one yard touchdown pass form Canfield to tight end Brady Camp.

Jacquizz ran it in from two yards at the start of the third quarter, and Oregon State was looking good, leading 13-0.

UNLV quarterback Omar Clayton threw a touchdown pass to wideout Rodelin Anthony shortly afterwards, and the Beaver lead was cut to 13-7 with almost ten minutes remaining in the third.

Canfield then threw a score to James Rodgers from four yards out, leading a Beavers drive that went 75 yards and put them back up by 13, 20-7.

After that score, however, the Rebels went with back-up quarterback Mike Clausen, because Clayton was suffering from a sore knee. Clausen led UNLV on two touchdown drives, throwing two touchdown passed to put the Rebels up 21-20 with 4:16 left in the game.

The Beavers, however, went 64 yards in 12 plays, and set up Justin Kahut with the winning 33 yard field goal that put Oregon State up for good.

The Beavers defense held UNLV to under 300 total yards of offense and forcing 2 turnovers.

The Oregon State offense was led by Jacquizz Rodgers, as well as Canfield. Canfield finished the night 25-31 for 198 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
