BOISE - Three players from Boise State will not play in the Fiesta Bowl.

The announcement was made Monday morning in Phoenix. The three players are: Preston Minter, Malcolm Johnson and Raphiel Lambert. All three are freshmen.

Coach Chris Petersen said the players did not meet BSU standards but would not elaborate. Minter and Johnson are red shirting this year, while Lambert was hurt in spring ball and has not played at all this season.

"They just didn’t meet the standards that we kind of try to live by," Peterson said.

Monday's press conference was the first of many as the team prepares to play next Monday against undefeated TCU.

"We’re excited to be playing a tremendous TCU team," Peterson said. "I think everybody in the country has the utmost respect for those guys. And it’s no different for the Broncos."

"It will be a tremendous challenge for us to play up to their level."

Petersen also said that injured WR Austin Pettis remains a game-time decision.
