Now you see it...now you don't; Masoli has become a master at ball fakes
Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli and his running backs have become masters of the zone read play, and their ability to hide the ball has frustrated opposing defenses.
Two years ago Oregon fans were used to seeing opposing defenders jump up triumphantly after what appeared to be a tackle on a Duck running back, but then that celebration turned into frustration as the same defender watched quarterback Dennis Dixon - after seemingly making the ball disappear - trot into the endzone for a touchdown.
Jeremiah Masoli and his running backs have also become masters of the zone read play. Their football version of sleight of hand keeps defenders on their heels, and it also keeps defensive coordinators thoroughly frustrated. KVAL Sports Director Tom Ward and Dirk Weishaar have been with the Ducks in Los Angeles all week, and they have more on how Masoli and the Ducks hope to keep the Ohio State defense at bay, by keeping the location of the ball a secret.
