It appears Dana Altman's basketball program at Oregon has taken another hit. A source with knowledge of the situation told KVAL Sports point guard Malcolm Armstead has asked for and been granted his release from the school.

If Armstead does indeed transfer, he will become the fifth player to leave the Oregon program since Ernie Kent was dismissed in March. (Drew Wiley, Josh Crittle, Matt Humphrey and Jamil Wilson)

After transferring to the UO from Chipola Junior College in Florida last season, Armstead started 27 games for the Ducks in the 2009-2010 season.

Messages left for Armstead were not immediately returned.
