Seven Sheldon athletes make committments
EUGENE, Ore. - It was a big signing day at Sheldon High School as seven athletes announced where they will play collegiately.
Five football players and one volleyball player signed letters of intent on Wednesday. Dawson Housley did not sign a letter. He has decided to walk on to the football team at the University of Oregon.
Defensive end Sam McCaskill nearly signed with Oregon State, but instead he committed to Boise State.
"Coming into the Boise State weekend, I felt like I was probably going to go to Oregon State. Then (Boise State) just blew my mind. I felt like it was meant to be."
Irish quarterback Dillon Miller and defensive back Mitch Carman both signed with Lindenwood University, a Division II school in St. Charles, Missouri.
Tanner Zent signed to play linebacker at Western Oregon and Kameron Canaday signed with Portland State. Canaday will be a long snapper and may also play elsewhere for the Vikings.
Natalee Godfrey is headed to Bozeman, Montana to play volleyball for Montana State.
