Ducks a win away from college baseball Super Regionals

EUGENE, Ore. - A win at home Monday night over Rice University would send the Oregon Duck baseball team to the super regionals against NC State.

Students on campus are taking pride in the team's success even as they scramble to prepare for finals and the summer break.

"It's great for our baseball team to actually make it this time," Gina Macy said. "We've gone a lot farther than we have in the past so it's really nice."

Oregon beat Rice 11-0 to stay alive in the series, forcing a winner-takes-all finale at PK Park.

The game comes as students navigate dead week, the end-of-term prelude to finals.

Spirits are anything but dead on campus, however.

"I'm like stoked," said Dan Smith. "Hopefully we can win tonight, so next weekend we can host the super regionals and I can go to see those games in person."

For a school with an international legacy in track and field and newfound top tier success in football, the baseball team's rise is one more thing for Ducks to quack about.

"I mean we are good at all sports, which is kind of sick," said Todd Norman. "Volleyball, basketball and now baseball. I knew they were top ten, but I didn't know they were going to the College World Series. That's sick."
