EUGENE, Ore. - A judge denied Colt Lyerla's request to leave the state or Oregon and permanently relocate to Las Vegas.
Lyerla faces cocaine possession charges from an October arrestt.
Lyerla told the court he wants to move to prepare for May NFL's draft. Lyerla was represented by attorney Stephen Houze.
Judge Jay McAlpin likened the request to someone who "wants to take an Alaskan vacation to go fishing during fishing season."
McAlpin said the court had already given Lyerla two times more attention than a normal defendant and would like to set a trial date as soon as possible.
The earliest the court would be able to accommodate a trial would be January 2. The attorneys are meeting to discuss a time.
