High school football games to watch Friday

EUGENE, Ore. -- From the KVAL Sports center, here is a look ahead at some of the Western Oregon high school football games we'll be following on Friday, Sept. 11.

Games to Watch

CENTRAL CATHOLIC VS. SHELDON: This could be the toughest game on the schedule for the Irish, certainly the most challenging non-league opponent Sheldon will face.

SOUTH ALBANY VS. THURSTON: 5A runners-up in 2008, the Thurston Colts looked every bit of a contender again with a 55-45 win over Corvallis last Friday. South Albany is coming off a thrilling 21-20 victory over Willamette.

SUMMIT VS. CHURCHILL: After being overmatched in their season opener by the 6A Sheldon Irish, the Churchill Lancers get back home for a 5A meeting with the Summit Storm.

KLAMATH VS. WILLAMETTE: Still licking their wounds from a tough zero week loss at South Albany, the Willamette Wolverines have their home opener against Klamath Union of the Southern Sky Conference.

WILSONVILLE VS. CORVALLIS: After a shootout with Thurston last Friday, the Corvallis Spartans are home again, this week against Wilsonville who was crushed by Crater.

JEFFERSON VS. WEST ALBANY: The back-to-back 5A state champion West Albany Bulldogs had their 28-game win streak snapped last week on the road at Sherwood. WAHS returns home and something says they will win this one.

CENTRAL LINN VS. HARRISBURG: The 3A visits 2A as the Eagles host the Cobras.

DOUGLAS VS. ELMIRA: It's the 4A Far West against the 4A Sky-Em. The Falcons try to hold off the Trojans.

CASCADE VS. JUNCTION CITY: Rebounding from a tough 14-11 loss at Newport, the Junction City Tigers return to their home den to host Cougars.
